Travel Medicine

At Potomac Physician Associates, we not only want to keep you healthy while at home but when you travel abroad as well. Our doctors can help you prepare for your trip abroad by recommending methods to prevent or decrease the onset of travel-related illnesses.

Our services include:

  • Immunizations required for international travel
  • Treatment for travel issues such as motion sickness or traveler’s diarrhea
  • Consultation on what foods to eat or avoid during your trip
  • Any necessary follow-up care upon your return home

We recommend scheduling your travel appointment 4 to 8 weeks prior to your trip. During your appointment, we will review your medical history, immunization record and current medications.  We will also discuss your travel itinerary and create a prevention plan for you. Please bring the following items to your appointment:

  • Your travel itinerary
  • Record of any prior immunizations for Hepatitis A & B and Tetanus
  • List of medications you are currently taking
  • Health insurance card
  • International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card) – if you have one
